 | The city of San Ramon is a success, according to a new campaign aimed at promoting innovative and experienced local officials throughout the state. San Ramon's commitment to the arts, local business and a high quality of life will influence state leaders "struggling with fundamental issues of governance."
"San Ramon is blessed with an incredibly strong base of active residents, who are fully engaged in supporting our schools, parks, non-profits, service clubs, city foundations and many other civic and community organizations," said San Ramon Mayor Bill Clarkson. "It is our resident's dedication and their commitment to serve San Ramon that allows the city to continue to deliver the high quality of services our citizens enjoy."
In the "Strong Cities | Strong State" campaign, a project of the League of California Cities and the California City Management Foundation, San Ramon is profiled as a city success story. The campaign aims to feature all California cities over the next 18 months, alongside profiles of elected officials and city managers working together to improve quality of life.
"Quality of fife in San Ramon is enhanced by well maintained and safe streets, parks and neighborhoods; a wide array of recreational opportunities; great schools; and a business friendly atmosphere," City Manager Greg Rogers said.
On its website, "Strong Cities" stated that San Ramon is considered to be one of the most desirable places to live in the Bay Area, highlighting its 54 parks, community centers and quarterly city report. San Ramon's profile also makes note of the city's low unemployment rate and high median household income level.
"Strong Cities | Strong State" listed San Ramon's significant accomplishments as follows:
* Opened a Performing Arts Center in 2007
* Established its own police department in 2007
* Instituted a one-stop permit center 2011
* Received numerous awards for community parks
* Implemented the program "Shop San Ramon First"
* Received awards for excellence in financial reporting
The overarching goal of the "Strong Cities" campaign is to position cities as vital, necessary and equal partners in building a better California. Future city profiles will include photos, video and other media articulating how each individual city has been working to both provide essential services, as well as elevate the quality life of its residents. Success stories will range from public safety initiatives to educational partnerships, infrastructure improvements to community engagement strategies and more.
