Comments on Stories, posted by , a resident of , on Aug 9, 2012 at 1:09 pm

Tahoe Treasure is a 3-year-old Thoroughbred Mare who made headline news and local television for being one of four horses that were severely neglected in El Sobrante. After months of rehabilitation, Horses Healing Hearts Rescue and Rehab are proud to announce that Tahoe is ready for a forever home and looks forward to getting adopted.

I have had the pleasure of meeting, grooming and feeding Tahoe Treasure. She is a lovable, gentle horse with a special spirit.

She deserves a stable, attentive and loving owner. Thank you to Melissa/Horses Healing Hearts who works tirelessly with these rescues and brings them back to health. Support Melissa and her vision and help to find Tahoe Treasure a stable home.

Hi. Is this the horse rescued and rehabilitated for months by Contra Costa County Animal Services before she went to you? Glad she is ready for adoption. She was pretty close when she was at the shelter. Thanks for finding her a new home! www.ccasd.org

Poor Tahoe, she deserves better. All the girls involved with this Case do. Im very concerned at the fact that the Rescue writes the article expressing the Name of the Horse and the location of where the horse came from. When assisting a Law Enforcement Agency, confidentiality is a key issue, especially for the protection of the horse involved. Im also concerned in the manner in which it was expressed about the horses rehab. It is written as if the RESCUE had done the rehab and now ready for adoption, when in fact the Contra Costa Animal Control did the COMPLETE rehab. These horses were given everything above and beyond by the Animal Control Officer, Staff, Volunteer and Vet 24/7 for months. When they left the Animal Control Dept. and were released to all of us who do rescue, they were these amazing, healthy, beauties that looked like show horses, no further rehab was needed. So lets make sure the credit goes to those who deserve it, not to the person who has the horses last in their possession.

Animal Control did a terrific job with the horses they rescued. As I told the news media who wanted to further the ongoing story. I felt I ended the drama with my comment on the finality of this story. For all those involved here was what I said, "animal control may have made some mistakes. They too are human. All the horses in their care received the best rehab and veterinary care while the case was under investigation." Horses Healing Hearts Maintains the integrity of the horse and we are proud to say she has been adopted. Animal control should stop feeling like they have to keep protecting themselves. You screwed up and everyone knew it. Move on.

So sad you need to bash the Animal Control Department about something you know nothing about as a private citizen. Unless you or I were there from Day 1 and part of the Investigation, you obviously don't understand the law. Its hard to sometime handle, but unless the proper procedures are followed, the case could and would be lost. Searching properties, seizing animals can all go sideways if not done to the letter of the law. So don't try and take credit for what they did do, which was excellant care and rehab and then turn and bash their way of handling a case. Its hard enough for them out there.
