School lunches may see price hike

The cost of buying a hot lunch in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District may be going up, as trustees examine ways to trim a large deficit in the food service program. At a special meeting Tuesday, the board heard a recommendation to approve a $.50 increase, bumping elementary school lunches from $3 to $3.50 per meal, and middle and high schoolers from $3.50 to $4.

I myself am a parent of 2. Not yet in school, but will be in the next few years. I hardly bought lunch growing up, my parents couldn't afford it. $3.50 a day is fine but when you figure thats $70.00 over the month for just ONE child, it's hard to budget for more kids. I'll probably go the route my mom did and BROWN BAG IT. You know what your kids are getting, wether they eat it or not is completely different.
