General Plan 2030 passes Planning Commission hurdle
The Planning Commission approved the General Plan 2030 -- including a new Urban Growth Boudary and the extension of Ordinance 197 -- at a special meeting Tuesday, June 29. The version is now in the hands of the City Council, who are scheduled to meet on the topic July 13.

Three juveniles arrested after Saturday night shooting in Danville
Police are still investigating a shooting incident that occurred around 11:30 p.m. Saturday at the Sycamore Homes Association clubhouse in Danville. Three juveniles were arrested, with charges through the District Attorney's office pending the close of the investigation.

Council reallocates reserves in General Fund
The City Council met for 10 minutes for a special meeting Wednesday, June 30 to approve a resolution to reallocate most of the City's General Fund reserves. The only change to the original resolution was the addition of a quarterly policy review and allocations by the City Council.

School board appoints two new principals
The San Ramon Valley Unified School District announced the appointment of two principals at district schools. Stan Hitomi will take the lead role at Alamo Elementary School in Alamo and Ken Nelson will likewise take the top spot at Hidden Hills Elementary School in San Ramon.

Council to vote on general fund reserves change Wednesday
The San Ramon City Council will hold a special meeting at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 30 to vote on changing the general fund reserve policy. Officials are concerned with the impact to the city's credit rating and protecting the City's funds from the state.

Rockin' to the top
Devil's Angels, a local rock band comprised of 13- and 14-year-olds from San Ramon, Danville and Concord, took home the $1,000 first place prize in the School of Rock Battle of the Bands at the San Mateo County Fair earlier this month. This is the second "Battle" win for them as they were champions at the Hayward Area Recreation Department's competition in February.

The San Ramon Police Department provides San Ramon Express with a record of its calls each week. This is a sampling, omitting the more mundane, such as routine traffic stops.

Fire crews train at Camp Parks
More than 250 firefighters from seven counties -- including some from the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District -- fought live fire at the Camp Parks property in Dublin last week. The two-day training sessions, called Wildland 2010, were held in preparation for what could be one of California's worst summer fire seasons.
